President's Message

At the heart of the Global Tracheostomy Collaborative is a simple but powerful belief: every person living with a tracheostomy deserves safe, compassionate, and high-quality care everywhere in the world.

Our community was built on partnership. From its earliest days, the Collaborative has brought together physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, speech and language specialists, and most importantly, individuals living with a tracheostomy and their families and caregivers. This shared commitment continues to shape who we are and how we work. For too long, tracheostomy care has been fragmented, with preventable complications occurring across care settings. We know that better outcomes are possible when we learn from one another, standardize best practices, and center care around lived experience as much as clinical expertise.

As President, I am inspired every day by the strength of this global network. Our work is grounded in three core principles:
  • Connection: Bringing together interdisciplinary teams and communities across borders
  • Collaboration: Sharing knowledge, data, and lived experiences to accelerate improvement
  • Compassion: Recognizing the person behind every tracheostomy
To individuals living with a tracheostomy, you are at the center of everything we do. Your resilience, insights, and advocacy guide our priorities and remind us what truly matters. You are not defined by a condition. You are partners, leaders, and essential voices in this work.

To families and caregivers, your role is invaluable. Your support, vigilance, and advocacy make a profound difference in safety, recovery, and quality of life.

To our healthcare professionals, you are the catalysts for change. Whether at the bedside, in the clinic, or through research and education, your commitment transforms care and strengthens outcomes across the continuum.

To our partners and institutions, you make scale possible. Through shared learning and innovation, we are building systems that improve safety, communication, and quality of life worldwide.

Together, we are more than a collaborative. We are a movement. A movement to eliminate preventable harm, to restore voice and dignity, and to ensure that no individual or family navigates this journey alone. The work ahead is significant, but so is our collective resolve. Let us continue to connect, share, and partner so that every person living with a tracheostomy can live safely, fully, and with dignity.

With gratitude and commitment,
Vinciya Pandian
